Kinsale is a very beautiful and colourful town, it symbolizes the beginning of the end of Irish independence. it is here, in fact, that the Gael chiefs and their Spanish allies were crushed in 1601. A real disaster: it was the famous "Fight of the Earls", which led a large part of the Irish nobility to emigrate to the continent. The English made Kinsale one of their most important naval bases, and until the end of the eighteenth century, the Irish could not stay there
