Blackrock Castle Observatory

Blackrock Castle Observatory is a beautiful 16th century castle, located less than 2km from Cork city. This Castle was built to protect Cork (one of the most important harbour at its time) from pirate attacks. Today it is used as an astronomy observation center too. So by visiting this castle you can attend to two types of tours :

- A short astronomy presentation. More precisely about the differents stars and planets that you can see in Cork’s sky.

- A short tour about the history and the origins of the castle.

You can visit it from Monday to Saturday, from 10Am to 5Pm.

Address : Castle Road – Blackrock Village, Cork.

You can go there by bus from Cork city center.
